Grayson College proudly congratulates Barbara Malone, Director of Counseling and Social Services, on receiving the prestigious Patsy Award at the Texoma Behavioral Health Conference. This honor recognizes her outstanding leadership, compassion and commitment to improving the lives of students and the broader community.

Malone was recognized for her visionary work in founding Grayson Cares, a comprehensive support initiative that delivers critical services such as mental health counseling, emergency aid and the distribution of up to 20,000 pounds of food monthly to students and community members in need. Her approach addresses the full spectrum of student wellness, removing barriers that can stand in the way of academic success.

She also leads Minding College Minds, a statewide initiative through the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and funded by the Greater Texas Foundation. The project works to expand and enhance mental health services across Texas community colleges.

“Barbara has been absolutely instrumental in transforming how we support our students,” said Dr. Jeremy McMillen, President of Grayson College. “Her leadership, heart and innovation have created systems of care that meet students where they are—and ensure they have the support to keep going. She’s changed lives, and we are better because of her.”

In addition to her work at the College, Malone serves on the Texoma Community Foundation and continues to provide direct counseling to students—exemplifying her deep commitment to both individual and community well-being.

Grayson College celebrates Barbara Malone’s well-deserved recognition and the lasting impact of her work on our campus and beyond.
