Student Code of Conduct

As a member of the GC community, each student is expected to have reviewed the GC Student Handbook and abide by the GC Student Code of Conduct. Upholding these standards promotes a safe, respectful, and positive college experience and community. Violations of the GC Student Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action, which may include written warning, probation placement, suspension, expulsion, community service, student development, loss of leadership privileges and/or referral to law enforcement.
Overview of Student Expectations

| Academic Integrity | Maintain academic honesty in all coursework and assignments. |
| Behavior | Act in an orderly manner, avoiding harm to self or others. Refrain from threats, disruptions, or provoking disturbances. |
| Compliance | Cooperate with and follow directives from faculty and staff. |
| Respect for Property | Respect the property of others and the college, including facilities, equipment, and materials. |
| Class Participation | Attend class regularly and come prepared to participate. |
| Technology Use | Follow college technology use policies and guidelines. |
| Smoking | Smoke legal substances only in designated smoking areas. |
| Alcohol & Substances | Possession, use, or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited on campus and at GC-sponsored events, including cars and residence halls (regardless of age). |
GC Student Code of Conduct Violation Investigation and Administrative Review Process
GC Student Code of Conduct Violation (Violation)
- Faculty or staff, student, or community member may report a Violation.
- Reports may written or digital and should include a brief summery the reported Violation.
- Reports must be submitted to the Director of Title IX and Student Conduct or designee
Investigation and Administrative Review
All Violation reports are fully investigated.
If no evidence of a Violation is found:
- The Violation report is documented and no further action is required.
If evidence of a Violation is confirmed, an Administrative review begins:
- A student conference is scheduled to provide due process for the reported Violation.
- Supportive Measures are offered and put in place.
- All evidence is collected and witnesses are interviewed.
Student Conference
- The student reviews the reported Violation.
- The Violation description is reviewed in the GC Student Handbook.
- The student shares their perspective of their role in the Violation.
- Supportive measures are explored and put in place.
Outcome Determination
- Witness interviews and relevant evidence is reviewed.
- An outcome determination is made based on a preponderance of evidence.
- Rationale for the determination is outlined.
Conduct Meeting is required to review the Outcome Determination
- Student reviews the rationale for the determination of the Violation outcome.
- Student receives sanction(s).
- Student development is reviewed.
- Student is given digital and written notification of the outcome, rationale, sanction(s), and option to schedule a meeting to appeal the outcome and/or sanction(s).
