Grayson College Student Achievement Data

In this context, student achievement is defined as a broad measure of student success, encompassing retention, graduation rates, and other indicators like licensure exam results and job placement. 

Grayson College is expected to demonstrate our success with respect to student achievement by maintaining compliance with SACSOC Core Requirement 8.1: The institution identifies, evaluates, and publishes goals and outcomes for student achievement appropriate to the institution’s mission, the nature of the students it serves, and the kinds of programs offered. The institution uses multiple measures to document student success.

According to the College Scorecard (US Department of Education) Grayson College has the second lowest annual cost of attendance when compared to peer institutions.

Dual Credit

In the 2024-2025 Academic Year, Grayson College served more than 1,200 Dual Credit students from across 15 different ISDs, including online course offerings. Dual Credit Students maintained an average of a 3.2 GPA with a 90% average successful course completion rate (A, B, C, or P).

Outcomes Measures for Student Achievement

Degrees and Certificates Awarded

Degrees and certificates awarded for students at public 2-year institutions. After pandemic related challenges that impacted the 2020 and 2021 number of degrees and certificates awarded, Grayson College has shown a strong commitment to recovery rates, increasing to 1,335 degreees and certificates awarded in 2024.

Licensure Pass Rates

Pass rate for students who take a certification or licensure exam in their discipline. Grayson College set an ambitious goal and threshold of maintaining a 95% licensure pass rate for applicable courses. Passage rates dropped to 84.95% (2022) from a high of 93.9% (2015), but with is trending upwards as of 2023.

Course Completion Rates

The percentage of attempted courses in which students complete (with a grade of A, B, C, or D) or successfully complete (with a grade of A, B, C). Grayson College students complete courses at rates of 84%-86%, and successfully complete courses with a grade of C or better at rates of 80%-86%, showing a greater variability in successful course completion. Successful course completion rates have been steadily increasing since 2015, and have averaged out in the low to mid-80s in the past three years. Additional measures or student learning and student success are used to assess student achievement, in addition to course completion rates.

Graduation and Transfer Rates

Students who entered college for the first time at a two-year institution and were not concurrently enrolled at a four-year institution, and then transferred for the first time to a four-year institution within 6 years. Grayson identified a concerning decrease in transfer rates of students to four-year institutions in 2022, two years following the COVID-19 pandemic. Transfer rates have been increasing since 2022, with a new partnership created in Fall 2025 with the University of North Texas to strengthen transfer pathways for Grayson College students.

Social Mobility, Economic, and Working Outcomes for Grayson College Students

Economically disadvantaged undergraduates receiving a certificate, associate degree or bachelor's degree. Grayson College increased degrees and certificates awarded to economically disadvantaged students from 421 (2021) to 608 (2024) representing a 30% growth for the three-years average. The college is committed to student success for all students, including Pell-Eligible students.

The percentage of students awarded a degree in a given year who are employed in the fourth quarter of the calendar year in which the program ends or enrolled in a Texas public or private institution in the fall semester after receiving the award. Since 2021, more than 85% of Grayson College graduates were working, enrolled in college courses, or both in a Texas public or private college.
