Surveys
The Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness coordinates and administers the following institutional surveys:
Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE)
The Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) is a nationally recognized assessment tool administered each spring to returning students. CCSSE measures institutional practices and student behaviors strongly correlated with learning and retention. CCSSE results can provide actionable data that inform strategic planning, support accreditation efforts, and guide enhancements to programs, services, and instructional practices.
Dual Enrollment Survey of Student Engagement (DESSE)
The Dual Enrollment Survey of Student Engagement (DESSE) helps community colleges evaluate and improve programs serving high school students taking college courses. The survey enables institutions to assess how effectively they are introducing high school students to college-level coursework and support services, providing insights to enhance students' opportunities to benefit from early access to higher education and earn college credit that supports their future academic success.
Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SEnSE)
The Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE) can help community and technical colleges focus on the critical "front door" of the college experience. Administered during the fourth and fifth weeks of fall term to students in randomly selected courses, SENSE collects data about institutional practices and student behaviors during the earliest weeks of college. SENSE serves as a complementary tool to CCSSE, with a focused emphasis on early student experiences.
Graduation Exit Survey
This survey is administered to all graduating students at the end of fall, spring, and summer terms. It includes questions on the students’ reasons for attending Grayson College; satisfaction with various aspects of their academic and social experiences; satisfaction with certain college programs, services, and departments; level of preparation in core curriculum objectives; and plans for life after graduation.
PIE Fall Feedback Survey
The Assessment Process Feedback Survey is administered to assessment authors following each assessment cycle to gather insights on their experience with the assessment reporting process. Feedback collected through this survey helps our office refine assessment processes, develop targeted professional development opportunities, and enhance the resources available to support faculty and staff in their continuous improvement efforts.
