Grayson College Receives $362,896 JET Grant to Enhance Nursing Education

Grayson College has been awarded a $362,896 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant through the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to support nursing education and strengthen the future healthcare workforce in North Texas.
The grant, announced by Governor Greg Abbott as part of more than $2.4 million in career training grants awarded across the Dallas-Fort Worth region, will allow Grayson College to purchase advanced simulation equipment for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. The investment will support the training of 198 nursing students and help address the growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals across Texas.
The new equipment will include:
- Sim2Grow Total Medication Administration simulators
- Laerdal SimMan ALS simulators
- Gaumard Pediatric HAL simulator
- Laerdal SimMan Critical Care-B simulator
The enhanced simulation technology will provide students with additional hands-on learning opportunities in realistic clinical settings, helping improve competency and preparedness before entering the workforce.
“This grant represents a significant investment in the future of healthcare in our region,” said Dr. Jeremy McMillen, President of Grayson College. “By expanding access to advanced simulation technology, Grayson College is helping prepare highly skilled nurses who will serve communities across Texas. We are grateful to Governor Abbott and the Texas Workforce Commission for supporting workforce education and student success.”
The grant supports the College’s continued commitment to workforce training and meeting critical regional employment needs. Grayson College’s ADN program prepares students for careers as registered nurses through rigorous academic instruction combined with practical clinical experience.
According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the JET grants are designed to help schools purchase and install equipment necessary to train students for high-demand occupations throughout Texas.
“As our state grows, so does the demand for expertise in every sector of our diverse economy,” Governor Abbott said in the announcement. “These JET grants provide students with the tools they need to succeed in the workforce of the future.”
The announcement was made during a grant presentation ceremony hosted by the Texas Workforce Commission in Garland, Texas.
