Grayson College Distinguished Lecture Series

Distinguished Lecture Series Scheduled for April 12

The Grayson College Distinguished Lecture Series is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 at 6:30pm in the Center for Workplace Learning Auditorium. This year’s lecture will be a panel discussion on Word War I featuring Dr. Scott W. Palmer, Professor and Chair of History at the University of Texas- Arlington. Titled Insights into the Great World War, 1914-1918, the panel also includes Grayson College professors, Dr. Pawel Goral and Jennifer Bridges.

Dr. Palmer is a well-known specialist in the history of late Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union having published multiple articles and texts. He has taught a wide variety of courses throughout his career and is a respected academician in his field.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is presented in part by the JC and Alva Ray Family Innovating Learning Grant. The purpose of the non-traditional grant is to encourage innovative teaching strategies or provides for the opportunity to bring outstanding academicians to Grayson County.  This year, history professor Dr. Matthew Hamilton’s grant proposal was selected, and he has prepared a quality program.

“The Ray family has been long-time supporters of Grayson College and the greater Texoma community,” said Randy Truxal, Executive Director of the GC Foundation. “I have enjoyed working them throughout the years.”

This free event is open to the public.
