Grayson College will welcome former Women’s Basketball standout Annie Lockett into its Athletic Hall of Fame during an induction ceremony on Saturday, November 7, 2026, recognizing her historic contributions to the program and her lasting legacy as one of the College’s most accomplished athletes.

Lockett played for Grayson College during the 1987 and 1988 seasons under Head Coach Bill Brock, helping lead the Vikings to the program’s first conference championship. She also made history as the College’s first Women’s Basketball All-American and earned All-Conference and All-Region honors both seasons. During her sophomore year, she was named Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP) and also earned a spot on the Region V All-Tournament Team. Lockett contributed to an impressive 56 victories during her two seasons with the Vikings.

“Annie was an exceptional talent who made a tremendous impact on Grayson College women’s basketball,” said Mike McBrayer, Grayson College Athletic Director. “She was a difference-maker who helped elevate our program to a new level of success. Her talent, leadership and competitive spirit set a standard of excellence that continues to inspire our student-athletes today.”

A Garland, Texas native, Lockett grew up in an athletic family and developed her passion for basketball at an early age. Her talent and competitive spirit helped establish her as one of the most influential players in Grayson College basketball history.

“The team really contributed the most to my success my sophomore year,” Lockett recalled. “We had tremendous chemistry and just had the right pieces in place. Having skill is one thing, but we were selfless, we played hard and most of all played for each other.”

Following her time at Grayson College, Lockett continued her basketball career at Louisiana Tech University, finishing her collegiate career with an impressive 106 wins. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Louisiana Tech University and later completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of Phoenix.

In 1997, Lockett moved to Houston to try out for the WNBA's Houston Comets. While an injury derailed that opportunity, she did get the opportunity to practice alongside basketball legends Cynthia Cooper and Kim Perrot. Although she did not make the roster, she continued playing semi-professional basketball before transitioning into her professional career.

Lockett has carried the same dedication and drive that defined her basketball career into the corporate world, building a successful career in information technology and business leadership. She spent 21 years with KBR, a global company specializing in science, technology, engineering and government services, before transitioning to Bank of America. Today, she serves as Vice President in Information Technology delivering IT solutions at Bank of America, continuing a professional career spanning nearly three decades with just two employers.

“Annie’s story is a wonderful example of the opportunities that begin at Grayson College and the success our students can achieve long after they leave our campus,” said Dr. Jeremy McMillen, President of Grayson College. “She made history as a Viking and has continued to demonstrate that same commitment to excellence throughout her life and career. We are incredibly proud to celebrate her accomplishments and welcome her into the Athletic Hall of Fame.”

Her accomplishments both on and off the court reflect the lasting impact of her time as a Viking and the foundation for success that began at Grayson College.

The Grayson College Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Saturday, November 7, followed by a full afternoon of Viking Basketball. The women’s team will face Western Oklahoma State College at 2pm, followed by the men’s game at 4pm.

The College looks forward to celebrating Lockett’s achievements and welcoming her back to campus for this special recognition. For details about the event contact info@grayson.edu
