Student Complaint Process
The Student Complaint Policy (FLD Local) provides a process for students to report and resolve complaints. Student concerns are addressed at the lowest appropriate level and follow a clear, step-by-step process.
Step 1: Informal Resolution
Students are encouraged to first discuss concerns directly with the person involved (instructor or staff member). Many issues can be resolved quickly at this stage. If needed, you may speak with the appropriate department chair or supervisor.
Step 2: Submit a Student Complaint Report Form
If the issue is not resolved informally, complete and submit the Student Complaint or Grievance Report Form within 15 days of the incident. The form will be routed to the appropriate administrator for review.
You will receive a response within two College District business days acknowledging receipt of your complaint and outlining next steps. A written decision will be provided after the review process is complete.
Step 3: Appeal
If you are not satisfied with the decision, you may submit a written appeal to the next-level administrator within 10 days of the response, as outlined in the Student Handbook.
Step 4: External Review (If Applicable)
After completing the College’s complaint process, certain complaints may be directed to the appropriate state agency.
For complete procedures, timelines, and required documentation, please refer to the Student Handbook or Board Policy FDL local.
