Grayson College celebrated the completion of another bond project today with a ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Campus Police Department, funded through the $456,500,000 bond approved by voters in May 2024.

The renovation includes an open and inviting public and student entrance, a secure staff entrance for police personnel, offices accommodating up to five staff members and a squad room serving as a dedicated space for report writing and breaks, supporting officers who spend most of their time out in the field and on patrol. Additional improvements include secure evidence storage with improved chain of custody, new restrooms, lockers, showers, secure equipment storage and full CJIS security compliance. The facility was designed with future expansion in mind and was completed on time and within the $1.6 million budget.

The previous police department building, located next to the Grayson College Gymnasium and the Baptist Student Ministries (BSM) was relocated due to the current construction of the 211,000-square-foot Dr. Mary Moses Health Sciences Building. The new facility is situated in a central and highly visible area of campus, providing improved access for students, staff and visitors.

“This renovation represents a significant investment in the safety and security of our campus community,” said Dr. Jeremy McMillen, Grayson College President. “The new facility not only meets the operational needs of our police department but also ensures a welcoming and secure environment for everyone on campus.”

In addition, this upgraded facility is more than a building; it’s an investment in student success supporting safety, modern policing and opportunities for growth while reaffirming that every decision at Grayson College is guided by a mission of student success.
