Grayson College Announces Corey Leird as Director of Counseling and Social Services

Grayson College is proud to announce the appointment of Corey Leird, LCSW as the new Director of Counseling and Social Services. In this role, Leird will oversee the College’s counseling services and basic needs support programs, providing proactive outreach and mental health services to promote student success and well-being.
He will provide leadership in the development of counseling and social service programs, including emergency aid and food assistance provided under the Grayson Cares program. He will also work closely with campus and community partners to strengthen referral networks and ensure students have access to critical resources that support retention and success.
“Corey has played a key role in strengthening Grayson College’s systems of care,” said Dr. Jeremy McMillen, Grayson College President. “His experience and leadership will allow us to continue expanding services that support student well-being and long-term success.”
Leird brings extensive experience in higher education mental health, crisis response and care coordination. Most recently, he served as the Grayson Cares Coordinator, leading campus wide mental health initiatives and connecting students with campus resources. He also chaired the Behavioral Intervention Team and coordinated support services connecting students with counseling, emergency aid and community resources. His work has played a key role in advancing mental health awareness and strengthening systems of care across campus.
He earned his Masters of Social Work with a concentration in Direct Practice Mental Health and Substance Misuse from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also holds a Bachelor’s in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from UNT and an Associate of Applied Science in Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling from Grayson College.
