Audio Engineering

From the 2012-2013 catalog:

MUSC 1327. Audio Engineering I. (2-2-3). Overview of the recording studio. Includes basic studio electronics and acoustic principles, waveform properties, microphone concepts and miking techniques, studio set up and signal flow, recording console theory, signal processing concepts, recorder principles and operation, and an overview of mixing and editing.

Audio Engineering is one of a series of new courses intended to extend the scope of the GC Music Program into areas of commercial music and music technology. Students will gain firsthand experience using equipment in our state-of-the-art recording studio, as well as computer equipment in our music lab. Other courses in this initiative are Commercial Music Software, Songwriting, and Survey of the Music Business.
