About Adult Promise

Introducing the Adult Promise for Local ISD Employees.

The Adult Promise provides employees of participating local ISDs the opportunity to earn a certificate or degree with little to no tuition costs or fees. Whether you are seeking to become a certified teacher or looking to improve your skills in other areas – we’re here to help you achieve your career goals.

More than a scholarship, the program also includes academic support and other resources from Grayson College to help you succeed in your studies.

Participating ISDs include:

  • Sherman ISD
  • Denison ISD
  • Pottsboro ISD
  • Van Alstyne ISD

Eligible employees will receive:

  • A $350 scholarship from Grayson College
  • Personalized help applying for additional financial aid and scholarships
  • Grayson College onsite at the ISD to support employees with priority admissions, advising and college course enrollment.
  • Potential credit for prior learning

Program Requirements

  • Open to US citizens or non-US citizens that qualify for Texas residency
  • Must have earned a GED or high school diploma
  • Be employed by Denison ISD

  • More than a scholarship, the program also includes academic support and other resources from Grayson College to help you succeed in your studies.

    Eligible employees will receive:

    • A one time $350 scholarship from Grayson College.
    • Personalized assistance applying for additional financial aid and scholarships.
    • Grayson College onsite at your employer to support employees with priority admissions, advising and college course enrollment.
  • All participating ISD employees are eligible for the support of the ISD Adult Promise program. Some funding options, such as "Last Dollar" funding, will require additional requirements.
    • Must be employed at a participating ISD
    • Must Apply to Grayson College and sign the Adult Promise Agreement (located at the end of the application)
    • Must apply and submit FAFSA/TASFA
    • Complete the Grayson College Foundation Scholarship application
  • An employee can receive priority enrollment and other resources as long as they are employed at a participating ISD
    • Connect scholarship - A one time $350 scholarship for all participating ISD Adult Promise employees.
    • Last Dollar Adult Promise Scholarship - A scholarship that covers credit course tuition and mandatory fees each eligible semester. It does not cover books, additional course-specific fees, housing fees, or meal plans.
  • Employees who have completed all other eligibility requirements, have not previously earned a bachelor's degree, remain eligible for federal financial aid, and have an AGI of $80,000 or less are eligible for the Last Dollar Adult Promise Scholarship.
  • “Last dollar” funding means that the Adult Promise will cover all remaining credit course tuition and mandatory fees after financial aid, grants, and scholarships are applied.
    • Maintain a 2.0 GPA if at Grayson College.
    • Successfully complete (or earn) 67% of attempted credits each semester.
    • Apply for FAFSA and the Grayson College Foundation scholarship each academic year.
    • An employee can participate in the Adult Promise scholarship for 4 years or 60 credit hours (whichever comes first)
