Description

Are you interested in becoming a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) working in long-term care facilities or with Home Health Agencies? This program provides a comprehensive exploration of the essential components required by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. The curriculum covers topics such as resident's rights, effective communication, safety observation, reporting, and fundamental patient care. Special emphasis is placed on effective interaction with healthcare teams. To complete the program and qualify for the certification examination, students must concurrently enroll in both NURA 1001 (96 classroom hours) and NURA 1060 (48 clinical hours). Clinical hours are scheduled at various times, including day, evening, and weekend sessions.

Note: Healthcare program requirements must be satisfied before enrollment. Students are required to wear burgundy scrubs, closed-toe white shoes, and a watch with a second hand during clinical days. The cost of the course includes the required textbook, workbook, one set of burgandy scrubs, and one attempt at the exam. Students must pay for "Sure-Scan" background & drug screening prior to enrollment" ($135. Successful program completion earns a THECB recognized Occupational Skills Award.
