General Overview

Grayson is pleased to offer a baccalaureate degree in nursing! 

The RN to BSN program is a 100% online post-licensure baccalaureate bridge program designed to enhance the knowledge of a registered nurse. The program is built to serve the workforce needs of the community and align with the current mission of Grayson College. The program aims to prepare the graduate to advance their career in professional nursing in a variety of health-related settings. A central focus of the program is on the continued development of an RN as a member of the profession, provider of patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, and member of the healthcare team.

A variety of academic and nursing courses are offered and delivered in an online format. Full-time and part-time enrollment options are available with flexible scheduling.


Admission Eligibility Criteria 

Below is information that will help you as you get ready to begin the next step in your education and begin the BSN program. Requirements for admission to the RN-BSN program are as follows:

  1. Application to Grayson College (online at https://gcapp.grayson.edu/). Applicants must be fully admitted to Grayson College in order to be eligible for consideration into the RN-BSN program.
  2. Completion of the electronic application to the RN-BSN program (RN-BSN Application).
  3. Completion of the Verification Statement form (Upload with application) and copies of all transcripts.
  4. Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program or Texas BON approved programs.
  5. College GPA (cumulative) minimum of 2.5. If the cumulative GPA is less than 2.5, the applicant must submit a written request for a waiver.
  6. Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  7. Must be able to meet immunization requirements and all other requirements of the practicum facility, prior to completing practicum hours.

PLEASE NOTE:  If accepted, you must meet with the RN-BSN Success Coach or Health Science Admissions Specialist to proceed with enrollment after acceptance into the RN-BSN program.It is required to email (via your Viking email account) and set up a phone appointment with the RN-BSN Success Coach after receiving your acceptance letter. The Success Coach information will be included in the acceptance letter.

Transfer of College Coursework

Students who desire admission via transfer to GC must adhere to the GC course transfer policies outlined in the GC Catalog. This includes submitting official copies of transcripts from each college or university previously attended to the Office of Admissions and Records and a copy of the transcripts to the RN-BSN program. The Office of Admissions and Records will not send a copy to the RN-BSN office. Prerequisite and co-requisite general education courses will be accepted for transfer and application toward the Bachelor of Science in Nursing if the course is evaluated as equivalent to the required course at GC. Nursing courses are accepted for transfer only with prior approval of the RN-BSN Admissions Committee. Students wishing to transfer nursing courses should notify the Success Coach. Copies of course syllabi from all previous RN-BSN courses must be submitted to the RN-BSN Program Director to determine eligibility for transfer.  


Technology Requirements

Students enrolled in the RN-BSN program are required to access Canvas since the program is delivered
in a 100% online format. Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) used for online, blended, and
face-to-face classes at Grayson College. Canvas provides a method to deliver a variety of course content
along with a means for faculty to interact with students. A computer with an internet connection is needed.
Canvas may be accessed on campus or off campus. Computers for student use are available in the
Health Science Computer Lab, the Grayson College Library, and other campus computer laboratories.


There is also a “Laptop Loaner” program through the Grayson Library. Library hours are posted on the
Grayson College website and the Health Science Computer Lab hours are posted outside the lab each
semester. Students have tutorials available in all courses on how to navigate Canvas.
