5/22/2020 - GC CWL receives $287,000 from Skills Development Fund COVID-19 Special Initiative

The Texas Workforce Commission has awarded Grayson College’s Center for Workplace Learning $287,000 from its Skills Development Fund COVID-19 Special Initiative program. TWC announced the program’s creation on April 24, 2020 with a pledge to award up to $10 million statewide aimed at meeting the training needs for essential industries including healthcare.

5/19/2020 - GC Receives Texas Emergency Aid Grant

Grayson College, along with 28 other community colleges, 16 public universities and 12 independent, non-profit Texas institutions received a grant from the Texas Emergency Aid Grant Program this week. The program was launched three weeks ago with support from The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas Higher Education Foundation, Greater Texas Foundation and Trellis Foundation.

Robyn Voight, SHRM-SCP, is a professional with 17+ years of human resource management experience in retail, healthcare, and manufacturing.  She has notable experience in strategic human resource planning, performance management, staffing, federal and state law compliance, employee relations, employee benefits, compensation and payroll, training and development, and management coaching.

4/1/2020 - GC Student Alison Earnhart Named Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar

Grayson College Phi Theta Kappa student Alison Earnhart was named a 2020 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar. In addition to the honor, she will receive a $1,500 scholarship.

3/27/2020 - Grayson College and Texas A&M University-Commerce Partner to Provide a Field Placement for Social Worker Intern

Texas A&M University-Commerce has joined with Grayson College to provide social services to GC students. GC is now a Field Placement Site for Social Worker Interns. The agreement allows students in the Bachelor Social Worker and Master Social Worker programs of study to complete one year of their field experience in the Office of Counseling and Social Services.

3/25/2020 - PTK Wins 16 Regional Awards

Omicron Psi, the Grayson College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, was recognized with 16 regional awards recently. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the international honor society for two-year colleges. Awards were given based on leadership and undergraduate research as well as writing.

2/20/2020 - GC earns honor for excellence in student success

Grayson College was one of 10 colleges that was named an Achieving the Dream Leader College of Distinction today. The college received this distinction for achieving new, higher student outcomes and narrowing equity gaps. ATD created the Leader College of Distinction award in 2018 to recognize colleges that have continued striving to meet challenging student success goals, often earning Leader College status several times.

Denison, TX (February 17, 2020) – A recent survey conducted by the Hope Center at Grayson College revealed 60% of participating students experienced at least one form of basic needs insecurity in the past year.

2/7/2020 - GC President chairs Community College Taskforce focused on reform

The Community College Metrics Taskforce, as part of the Texas Association of Community Colleges and chaired by Grayson College President Jeremy McMillen, has worked in collaboration with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to release the Investing in Student Success report. The report examines Texas’s Success Point community college funding model and provides recommendations for better aligning funding with student needs and college performance.

Denison: Grayson College’s Adult Education and Literacy program won $10,000 from the Texas Workforce Commission during its annual conference held last week in Grapevine. GC received third place in TWC’s statewide Employer Partnership Awards for their work with Tyson Foods in Sherman.

1/17/2020 - Grayson College is recovering from cyber security threat

Grayson College systems officially began coming back online late Friday afternoon after a cyber security threat that occurred early Monday morning. The College took systems offline to contain the threat and has worked throughout the week to restore services in a safe and secure manner.

Grayson College is offering two winter minimester's for the Fall semester. The 5 week minimester will start Dec. 10 and end Jan. 9 and the 3 week minimester will start Dec. 16 and Jan 2.

11/19/2019 - Pathways Agreement Signed with A&M-Commerce Ensures Courses Count

Grayson College announced the official signing of a general articulation agreement with Texas A&M University-Commerce to facilitate the process of student transfer this week. The agreement will serve to make the process of transferring from Grayson to A&M-Commerce as smooth as possible.

Please join us Friday, November 15 at 3pm for the Health Sciences Open House and Dr. Mary Moses Facility Dedication. We will also be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Grayson's Nursing Associate Degree. There will be an EMS Open House for those wishing to learn more about that program.

Grayson College Veteran Services will host the “One Night in a Cardboard Box” event presented by the Homeless Coalition on November 15. Students and staff are invited to spend the night on campus in a cardboard box to experience what it is like to be homeless.

Grayson College recently announced the opening of its Food Pantry. The Pantry is open to all students. The Pantry is located on the 2nd floor of the Life Center, just outside the Veteran Services Office.

9/24/2019 - Trustee Jackie Butler receives first GC Professor of Biology Emeritus title

The Grayson College Board of Trustees voted to bestow Trustee and former professor Jackie Butler the honorary title of Professor of Biology Emeritus during its regularly scheduled meeting this week. This is the first time the college has awarded an Emeritus title.

9/18/2019 - Grayson College awarded Texas Pathways Grant

Based on outstanding accomplishments and dedication to student success, Grayson College has been selected to participate in Texas Pathways. The $11 million five-year grant, administered by the Texas Success Center, a division of the Texas Association of Community Colleges, is designed to support the implementation of guided pathways.
