Graduates gather after the commencement ceremony

Graduation Requirements


Students may apply for graduation using any certificate or degree plan in the catalog for the year they first enrolled at Grayson College or any subsequent catalog provided:

  • It is dated no more than five years prior to the graduation date.
  • The major has not changed.
  • The student did not stop-out for more than 1 year.

To graduate from Grayson College with an Associate degree, students must:

  1. Meet with a Success Coach or Faculty Advisor to complete a Degree Audit. This will determine if the student has met all the requirements for graduation.  The student will then apply for graduation and include the Success Coach or Faculty Advisor’s name on the application.  It is the responsibility of the student to know the application deadline as published in the schedule of classes.
  2. Complete the 60 credit hours as required for the respective Associate degree.
  3. Have an overall Grayson College grade-point average of 2.00.
  4. Have earned at least 25% of the total required degree plan hours at Grayson College.
  5. Successfully demonstrate college readiness in Reading, Writing and Math.
  6. If a course substitution is needed, meet with a Faculty Advisor or Success Coach to complete the required paperwork.

Health Science Students, in addition to the above degree requirements, must complete a grade of “C” or better in each major course on their degree plan.

To graduate with honors, a Student must meet the following requirements:

Have an overall grade-point average of 3.7 or better based on Grayson College hours only.

To graduate Cum Laude, have a GPA of 3.70 – 3.84

To graduate Magna Cum Laude, have a GPA of 3.85 – 3.99

To graduate Summa Cum Laude, have a GPA of 4.00 


To graduate from Grayson College with a Certificate, students must:

  1. Meet with a Success Coach or Faculty Advisor to complete a Degree Audit. To graduate with honors for a Certificate of Completion, a Student must make a grade of “A” for all courses in the certificate program.



Commencement Ceremony Fall 2018

Grayson Colleges Commencement Ceremonies are congratulatory and meant to publicly recognize graduates, diplomas are not handed out to participants. To officially graduate from Grayson College please see Graduation Requirements.

Cruce Stark Auditorium

  • December 7, 2018

Line Up

  • You will line up in the Arts and Communication Center hallway, adjacent to the Auditorium.  Guests are not allowed in the line up area. Please note you will be standing for a long period of time.

How to Dress

  • Men: Dress shirt with collar, tie, slacks and dark dress shoes.
  • Women: Dress or slacks with dark shoes.
  • The mortarboard of your cap is to be worn parallel to the ground.  Your tassel should be on the left side until you are instructed to move it during the ceremony.
  • Please NO gum, flowers, phones, or purses in the line up or during the ceremony.
  • Please know that if you iron your gown, there is a possibility of the material being ruined. 

Guests

  • Doors to the Auditorium will open 45 minutes prior to each graduation.
  • No guests will be allowed in the auditorium without a ticket and will enter through the main entrance.
  • Please instruct your guests to arrive early. Seating is first come, first serve.
  • Your family will not be allowed to approach the stage to take your photo during the ceremony. They must stay seated until the last graduate/faculty member leaves the auditorium.

More Details

  • If you are receiving a certificate and degree, the higher of the two will be recognized at commencement.
  • Men, please remove your cap during times of prayer during the ceremony.
  • Please make sure your address and e-mail are up to date with us. We will mail your diploma to the address on file.
  • If you have a hold for any reason, your diploma will not be released.
