Texas law requires that all new students in a public college or university have their academic skill levels assessed prior to entry in a college-level class. GCC counselors are available to advise students on which tests they need to take. For test schedules and registration procedures, contact GCC's Main Campus Testing Coordinator, Donna McKinney, at 903.463.8724 or email her at mckinneyd@grayson.edu.
Testing Centers are located on both the Main and South campuses for basic skills testing, proctoring, and state/national tests. GCC is an official testing site for the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA), THEA Quick Test, and the COMPASS Assessment; all three tests are approved for Texas Success Initiative (TSI) purposes.
Both Testing Centers administer make-up exams and internet course exams for GCC students. All tests must be started at least one hour before closing. Photo ID is required.
