National Tech Prep Scholar Program

The purpose of the Scholar Program is to promote the excellence of Tech Prep programs and to provide an opportunity for outstanding Tech Prep students to be recognized at the local and state levels. Consortia member representatives of the Scholar Program will assist in identifying and recognizing Tech Prep students who have exhibited high academic and technical achievement and leadership potential.

National Benefits:

Recognition of Tech Prep student achievement

Acknowledgment of local Tech Prep programming and the impact of the program at the national level

Local Consortium Benefits:

Recognition of local Tech Prep student achievement

Demonstration and promotion of excellence in Tech Prep programs to all stakeholders (students, parents, educators, business/industry, school boards, legislative representatives and the community)

Student Member Benefits:

Recognition at the local and/or state level for outstanding performance in a Tech Prep program

Recognition and awards at local honors day and graduation ceremonies

Promotion of achievement to local and state employers

Student Criteria:

Enrollment in a recognized Tech Prep Program (high school or postsecondary level)

Maintains a minimum 3.5 grade point average - GPA based on a scale of 4.0

Completes a quality work-based project i.e. job shadowing, internship, apprenticeship, senior project, service learning, etc.

Obtain a recommendation from a Tech Prep Career Pathway Instructor

Submit completed Scholar Award Application with transcripts to local Tech Prep Scholar representative.

Responsibilities of Local Tech Prep Scholar Representatives:

Promote Scholar Award Program

Disseminate, collect and maintain scholarship applications

Confirm student credentials and eligibility

Contact NATPL Treasurer for recognition materials

Membership Fees:

The annual membership fee for local Tech Prep consortia to participate in the National Tech PrepScholar Award Program is $125.00. Payment to be made to NATPL. Electronic applications are available online.
