Grayson County College employs experienced and professional public safety officers and office staff to help create a safe environment in which to work, learn and play. College public safety officers are certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education and are commissioned by the college board of trustees as peace officers. Additionally, most officers are also certified as either Emergency Care Attendants or Emergency Medical Technicians by the Texas Department of Health and are certified as structural firefighters by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

The College Public Safety Office prepares an annual informational bulletin according to the requirements of the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990. This bulletin contains information on campus crime and arrest statistics, crime reporting procedures, crime prevention techniques and related campus security and safety information. Any person desiring a copy of this bulletin may do so by contacting the college public safety office or by downloading a copy by clicking here. The public safety office also maintains a daily log of all offenses and incidents that have been reported on college property. Any person wishing to view the daily activity log should contact the college public safety office during normal business hours.

The Public Safety Office is responsible for regulating traffic and parking on campus. All students and employees operating a vehicle on college property must register their vehicle with the public safety office and display a valid Grayson County College parking permit. Exceptions for the parking permit requirement are made for visitors who may be on campus attending an athletic or other special event. However, all other traffic and parking regulations are applicable. For a complete description of the traffic and parking regulations and to obtain a parking permit application form, contact the college public safety office or click here.

College Public Safety Officers monitor weather conditions at the college. Upon receiving a report of a tornado moving in the direction of the college, college public safety officers communicate with officials of the Denison Fire Department regarding activation of the weather alert sirens on the east and west campuses. Once the alert sirens are sounded, all persons should move to a designated campus shelter area. For a complete description of procedures and shelter locations, contact the college public safety office or click here.

The Public Safety Office is a service oriented organization and offers non-traditional public safety and law enforcement services. As a part of other services offered by the college public safety office, Officers render assistance on vehicle lock-outs, boosting of dead vehicle batteries, and assist persons who find their vehicle with a flat tire. Officers also provide on site security for athletic and other special events being held on campus.

To contact a college public safety officer, proceed to room T-234 of the Technical building on the main campus of Grayson County College. An officer may also be contacted by phone by dialing 903/463-8619. In an emergency, always call 911.
