Closing Policy: Whenever there is doubt as to the conditions of roads that must be traveled in order for faculty, staff, and students to arrive on campus, a decision will be made at the earliest possible time. Factors to be weighed in this decision will be: (1) danger of traveling on roads in questionable condition, and (2) need to provide educational services for

those who could safely travel to the campus.  We will error on the side of safety for the majority of those who would come on campus for classes.

Method of Communicating Decision to Close:  The College is open and operational UNLESS official word is received to the contrary.  A decision

to close the College will be communicated over local commercial radio and television stations as listed below.

       FM Radio                    AM Radio                   Television

 KLAK  97.5      (Denison)         KRLD 1080 (Dallas)          KXII-TV  12

 KLBC 107.1 (Durant)            KSEO  750 (Durant)            KDFW-FOX  4

Also another method of communicating our information is available at www.cancellations.com. Simply enter 75020 into Find Postings where any weather announcements will be posted.

Timing of Notification: Due to the nature of weather, darkness usually increases the chance for icy road conditions.  Consequently the decision will be delayed until early morning road conditions can be analyzed.  In most instances the decision to close the College will be communicated to local media by 6:30 a.m.  If you have not heard an announcement by 7 a.m., you should assume that the College is open. We will only notify the media when classes are delayed or canceled. If conditions deteriorate during the day, announcements will be communicated through deans and supervisors, and posted at www.grayson.edu.

Individual Decisions Regarding Reporting to Work: Should you feel that road conditions in your area are too dangerous, then please do not take any undue risks to drive to the campus.  In this event, please call your supervisor so that others can provide necessary service to your customers.
