Spring 2010 Performance Schedule
The GCC Music
Program is pleased to announce the GCC Spring 2010 Concert Schedule! As
usual, we will feature a variety of events in different locations with
different styles and students being featured. All concerts are free and
open to the public. We hope to see you
there!
Tuesday, April
13, 7:00 PM
The GCC Music "Showcase"
GCC Campus,
Cafeteria, Student Center -- This brand new event, presented in collaboration
with Gregg Miles, Director of Student Programs and Activities, offers a
"preview" of our other events, and is a great way to get to know our
program in one sitting! It will feature performances by all four
ensembles: The GCC Singers, The GCC Jazz Combo, The GCC
Chamber Band, and The GCC Guitar Ensemble.
It will also feature performances by music faculty. If you can
only make it to one event, this is the one to go to! This can also help
you decide what else you might want to attend.

Piano Recital, Part I
GCC Campus,
Room SC113 -- The classical piano studio of
professor Tatiana Bays has grown! It now
requires two evenings to get all students in. This is the first event,
which will also feature a performance by Mrs. Bays.

Irma Blackburn Lecture Center -- A performance of private guitar students and
the GCC Guitar Ensemble, all under the
direction of Dr. David Tercero.

Jazz Piano
The Boiler
Room (coffee shop in Sherman). A recital
given by the piano students of James Dering.
Each student performs with bass and drums in the upbeat, jazzy environment of
the Boiler Room. Mr. Dering will also perform.

GCC Campus,
Room SC113 -- A performance given by the private voice studio of Ms. Amye Derix. A great variety of songs, ranging from classical to contemporary
styles. Ms. Derix also performs.

Chamber Band and private band students
GCC Campus,
Irma Blackburn Lecture Center -- Our small band program is growing one semester
at a time. This exciting event features a variety of music by the GCC Chamber Band and by private students, all under the
direction of Mr. Jim Whitfill.

GCC Jazz Combo
The Boiler
Room -- The GCC Jazz Combo continues its
tradition of performing high energy, high quality jazz. This semester's
ensemble, under the direction of professor James Dering, includes piano, bass, drums, guitar,
trombone, three saxes, and two vocalists. Jam session to follow!

Singers (choir)
GCC Campus, Room SC113
-- The concert series wraps up once again with the GCC
Singers’ choir concert. This semester's event will feature music
spanning different areas of classical choral literature, including some extras
as well. Languages include English, Latin, Russian, and possibly
more. Under the direction of Mr.
James Dering.
All concerts
are free and open to the public. Come
out and support your fellow students!
