Materials Weeding Policy
The criteria that will be considered before material is removed from the Grayson County College collection include:
- Appearance
- This criterion calls for extreme caution to avoid discarding rare books, and for judgment to decide whether or not the volume should be replaced.
- Duplicate or Superfluous Volumes
- Unneeded duplicate titles
- Inexpensive reprints
- Older, superceded editions
- Poor Content
- When information is dated
- When book is poorly written
- When information is incorrect
- When improved editions exist
- Specific Classes of Books that Particularly Lend Themselves to Weeding
- Books that should never have been bought
- Inaccurate history books
- Subjects of little interest to a college because of the curriculum.
