Library Tour

Step One

The metal gates through which you entered will help you remember to check books out, and will help ensure that the library staff members check your items out correctly. Please don't be embarrassed if you set the alarm off -- even librarians have done this. Simply return to the desk to have your materials checked.

To your left is an Information Desk staffed by people who will help you with many kinds of questions. If you are unsure about how to use the computers, where your first class is located, how to find a book, or anything else, ask the Librarian or Library Aide at the first floor desk. No question is a stupid question.

The library staff will be happy to show you how the computers work, and to help you with your research. There will usually be a librarian on duty to assist you. You must do the work, however. The library staff is here to assist in the teaching process; you, the learner, must do the work.

Items that instructors place on reserve are available at this desk. Study guides, books, computer programs, and sample tests may be checked out for one hour. Change for the copier is also available here. Through the door behind the desk is an elevator. This is the only elevator on campus and is available for anyone who wants to use it. Please do use the elevator if you do not feel comfortable using the stairs.

New books are located in the new book section. They are shelved here for two months. Videos and DVD's are located on the first floor. All visual materials are in the Barrcat. You can search for videos specifically by limiting your search to projected materials format. These items are checked out for three days.
