Mission and Purpose Statement

The mission of the Grayson County College Library is to meet the appropriate informational needs of both the individual and the community, and to provide quality service and materials. The Library is committed to cooperation with other informational agencies whenever possible and to continuous improvement.
  1. To support the current and future curriculum needs of the College by selecting, acquiring, organizing, preserving, and circulating a collection of materials in a variety of formats, e.g., print and audio/visual material, computer software and databases, as well as equipment necessary for its use.
  2. To plan, develop, and implement Library policies and programs that are compatible with the College's mission and vision.
  3. To provide comprehensive Library orientation and instruction enabling all users to locate, evaluate, manage and present information.
  4. To interpret the collection to all users and assist them in the utilization of the Library's as well as other electronically available databases, provide referral to additional information sources and supply individualized assistance in using instructional materials.
  5. To assist in the development of local and inter-institutional information networks.
  6. To evaluate the collection, programs, and facilities in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services.
  7. To share resources, services, and ideas by cooperating with all areas of the College, as well as professional, public, and private organizations and institutions in the community
  8. To encourage personal and professional growth by providing staff development opportunities for Library employees.
