Job Title:                     Information Technology Administrative Assistant

 

Job Overview: The Administrative Assistant works closely with the professional library staff and the Computer Services Department and reports directly to the Dean of Information Technology.  As an integral member of the Information Technology team, the assistant provides professional clerical support and services for campus wide projects, the computer services department and the Library.  The assistant monitors and maintains financial records for both departments as well as the BARR consortium. 

 

Job Duties: 

 

Support interdepartmental needs for computer services and/or library.

 

Assist with all aspects of the library including:

 

Working the front desk issuing BARR cards, checking books in and out, answering reference and computer questions, processing books.  Instructing students in use of e-mail, Internet, EBSCOHost, etc.  Participates in Library promotion projects.  Assist in selection and supervision of work-study students as needed. Open and close facility as required.

 

Provide instruction and assistance on campus for new programs such as CBT, online databases, online schedules and catalogs.

 

General office management including:

 

Monitor and maintain accounts for the Computer Services and Library, Prepare purchase orders, track shipments, authorize invoices for payment, interface with vendors as needed, prepare correspondence, provide courteous office/telephone reception, schedule meetings, process the mail and maintain supplies.

 

Create and maintain database of computer equipment and other technology fixed assets.

 

Monitor copier accounts for most major copiers and printers on campus.  Troubleshoot      library copiers and maintain supplies for them.

 

Maintain and monitor the records for BARR consortium.

 

Schedule Starlink broadcasts and provide recordings for staff.

 

Serve on various committees as needed, help with UIL judging, job interviews, etc.
