Avoiding Plagiarism Class Activity
This activity will factor into your class participation grade; it is not part of the Grammar Lab (above) that counts 5% of your final grade. Here are the steps to complete the Avoiding Plagiarism Class Activity:
- Go to the web site listed at the top of this page
- Click Avoiding Plagiarism
- Please read all of the content in sequential order.
- Under the Avoiding Plagiarism subheading you will find seven rules discussed:
- Attribution
- Quotation Marks
- Citation
- Paraphrase
- Loyalty to Source
- Works Cited
- Citation for Images
- At the end of each of these files, you will see a link that says practice. Click this link and complete just one of the practice exercises. At the end of each exercise, click the "evaluate" icon. Read the evaluation carefully to determine if your attempt was correct, then click the print icon at the bottom of the evaluation.
- Repeat this for each of the seven rules, write your name at the top of each printout, save these printouts until you have completed all 7 practice exercises, and turn them in at the same time. If you have any difficulty with the 7th practice exercise, citing images, do not worry about submitting that exercise (just send the first 6). Of course, you should still read the instructional material.
