Contrary to what some students may think, internet classes are not (nor should they be) easier than their traditional counterparts. Successfully completing this class requires self-motivation and self-discipline. If you lack these qualities and do not intend to develop them quickly, then this class is not for you! If you are motivated and disciplined, then continue reading.

You must have access to a computer that performs adequately for the course. This is your responsibility! Should you experience “technical difficulties”, contact the Academic Systems help line immediately at 1-800-681-4357. You can also receive technical help by sending a detailed explanation of your problem to help@academic.com. Please remember that technical problems do not excuse you from completing the online assignments for the class. Access to a computer that works is your responsibility.

If you are comfortable with the preceeding paragraphs of this letter, then you have a reasonable chance of success in this class. Other suggestions that should improve your chance of completing this course are listed below. Please read these suggestions carefully.

• Do not procrastinate. Set a regular schedule for study time for the class and stick with it.
• Follow the course schedule in the syllabus carefully and completely.
• Complete all explain and apply portions on-line for each section of the course.
• Complete all homework for each section in the course as assigned by the Academic On-Line program. The homework is found in your textbook.
• Complete all evaluate quizzes on-line for each section of the course.
• Come to the Grayson County College Testing Center to take the pencil and paper exams listed in the schedule. If you are unable to come to the GCC Testing Center, contact me immediately, so that other arrangements can be made before the first exam is scheduled.
