Job Description:
This position will be responsible for processing veteran benefits, academic advising for Veterans and training the Veteran Affairs (VA) Work Study students. Advisor will work directly with Veterans to assist them with benefits eligibility, academic plans and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and institutional laws and policies.

Responsibilities -
Responsible for all aspects of processing veteran’s benefits and ensuring compliance with of Department of Defense (DOD) regulations. Develop and implement training for all VA work-study students and any Title IV work-study students located in the VA office. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment assisting students and potential students through the benefit application process. Will serve as an Academic Advisor for all Veterans.

Qualifications:
Expected – Bachelor degree. Excellent oral, written, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and public speaking ability. Ability to work with a variety of college and community constituencies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office with emphasis in Word, Excel, and Access; Internet and email skills in a network environment. Must be student oriented with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and the general public. Preference will be given to a veteran who served in active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other that dishonorable (must provide DD214 to claim preference); and who maintains a positive attitude toward the team concept of problem solving, planning, and overall commitment to veteran student success. Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Preferred - – Veteran, Veteran Educational Services experience, School Certifying Official experience and some proficiency with data management systems.
