Job Description:
The Senior Database Administrator functions as a systems administrator engaged in developing, maintaining, installing, using, and operating complex database systems. The Senior Database Administrator's primary responsibility is the support, modification, and development of administrative application software on the administrative servers. This employee will evaluate user requirements and implement solutions. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Information Technology.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience (particularly knowledge of SQL databases) may substitute for the degree requirement on a two-for-one basis. The Senior Database Administrator must possess good organizational skills for project planning and implementation and must have experience in the management or implementation of a new ERP system. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to communicate technical concepts and ideas to individuals and large groups; interpret, evaluate, recognize, and define problems; provide resolution through analytical thinking; establish cooperation, understanding, trust, and credibility. Experience with server operating systems (Windows Server 2008 R2/2012, Open VMS), web stack and database operations (Apache, MySQL, MSSQL, PHP), storage services and servers (SAN, NAS, SMB, NFS, iSCSI), and .NET Framework. Knowledge of Ethernet switching, routing, LAN/WAN topology and protocols.
