American Heart Association Designates GCC Emergency Medical Services as Training Center

The Texas affiliate of the American Heart Association has undertaken a statewide reorganization of its training and educational programs. As a result, the Grayson County College EMS Education Department has been designated a Community Training Center. This designation will enable the EMS Education Department to expand its scope of educational offerings in the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke.

American Heart Association approved courses offered by the GCC EMS Education Department include CPR for Healthcare Providers, Heartsaver CPR, Pediatric Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), ACLS Preparation, and ACLS Renewal. Instructor courses for all disciplines are scheduled periodically. Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) with new state of the art lightweight Automatic External Defibrillators is also offered.
