GCC Library

Borrowing Materials

  • Library Cards
Current GCC students and GCC employees can obtain a BARR library card that may be used at Grayson College Library, Denison Public Library, and Austin College Library. Grayson County residents are eligible for a BARR card that may be used at Grayson College Library only. Come to the library with your picture ID and a staff member will assist you.
  • Materials
Circulating books may be checked out for two weeks and videos and DVDs check out for three days. Reference books, magazines, and items on reserve must be used in the library.
  • Identification
Students, employees, and Grayson county residents must present their BARR library cards or valid picture IDs to borrow materials or to use items on reserve.
  • Renewals
To renew materials, visit or phone the circulation desk or log into your BARR account and renew your items yourself. To activate your account, come to the library and let a staff member assist you.
  • Library Courier Service
If you need materials from Sherman or Denison Public libraries or the Austin College Library, you may request the materials at GCC and a courier service is provided to transport items among the libraries. You may also return those libraries' items to the GCC library and the courier service will return them.
  • Overdue and Lost Materials
Returning materials by the due date is your responsibility. Overdue fines are charged for materials returned after the due date. As a courtesy, we will send you a notice if you have overdue materials. Please be sure your current address is on file with the college so any overdue mailings will reach you.
  • View Your Online Account
To view a list of the items you currently have checked out or to renew your library materials, log into your BARR account using your BARR card account number and your pin. If you don't have a pin number and would like one, come to the library and let a staff member assist you.
  • Texshare GCC Library is a member of Texshare, a Texas resource-sharing consortium. Students, faculty, and staff may register for a Texshare card at the information desk. The card allows borrowing at any of the participating Texas libraries.
