The Native Prairie Project-2006
Dr. John Partin secured a matched grant from Texas Fish & Wildlife in 2006 creating an 85 acre Environmental Education Center on GC's South Campus.
The Education Center encompasses various native habitats.
42.3 acres of native grasslands, 2.2 acre woodland wildlife corridor, 8.7 acres of timber stand improvements within woodland area, and 3.7 acres of shrubland mottes.
In Spring 2007 community members, GC Students and staff joined efforts in planting 270 native trees.
Future addition-1.7 acre lake with walkways and trails.
